My Frigidaire EFIC117-SS Countertop Stainless Steel Ice Maker - Red has a flashing power light button with an E and is not making ice. What does this mean so that I can trouble shoot. The owners manual has no guide for what each indicator light means. Check out this Frigidaire Gallery 22.2 Cu. Counter-Depth Side-by-Side Refrigerator and other appliances at Frigidaire.com.

Frigidaire EFIC108 is a budget priced ice maker than can produce up to 26 pounds of ice cube in 24 hours. It produces a batch of 9 ice cubes every 6-15 minutes. Frigidaire EFIC108 uses compressor cooling system without environmentally unfriendly chemical refrigerants like freon.

The Frigidaire Retro Ice Maker, Blue, EFIC113-BLUE is a great looking little ice maker, that does what it is supposed too (make ice). I want to thank Walmart for the opportunity to review such a great product. But the Frigidaire Retro ice maker is a mini ice maker that is needed because unfortunately, my refrigerator does not make ice.

  3. Frigidaire's 26 lbs. Freestanding Ice Maker in Silver is the ideal solution for all your ice making needs. Its compact and contemporary design makes it easy to transport and stylish to display. With a 2.65 lbs. Ice cube basket capacity, this ice maker conveniently saves space in your freezer for other food.

You might have seen units with similar design but under different branding – so are all of them the same? For the most part yes. Technically they are near identical but there are some minor differences between them. Most of the time the biggest difference is capacity of water reservoir and ice basket but in some cases there might be some differences in the ice making system too.

Performance

Ice quality isn’t perfect – it comes a bit wet and soft, it’s not bad but could be better (although probably not for this pricing). Since ice basket isn’t refrigerated ice cubes will slowly melt inside unless you put in the freezer – if you do they will become even more frozen but also freeze up into a solid block so you will have to break them apart.

Frigidaire EFIC108 offers you to choose between two ice size setting: small and large. If there is any difference between them it’s minuscule and therefore insignificant. Ice cubes are a bit small – this unit having “large” ice cube setting is kinda misleading as ice cubes will be rather small.

Keep in mind that first few batches might take longer to make and be of lower quality – more wet, less solid and smaller in size.

Interface

Super simple interface (control panel) makes this ice machine super easy to use. It has only two buttons, one of them being for turning the unit on and off – once you turn the ice maker on it will automatically start making ice. The other button is for selecting ice cube setting but since the difference between ice cubes sizes is unnoticeable it’s kinda useless.

Control panel also features 5 indicator lights, to indicate whether more water needs to be added in water reservoir, whether ice basket is full, whether the unit is turned on and which ice cube size setting is selected (each size setting has its own separate indicator light).

Noise

Frigidaire EFIC108 is a bit noisy. It’s not super loud but it does make a bit of noise, especially when the ice cubes are dropped into ice basket.

Reliability

Reliability seems to be a somewhat common issue with Frigidaire EFIC108 ice maker. Although majority of consumer feedback is positive, there is still a concerning amount of complaints about reliability. A lot of consumers have reported that their unit only lasted 6 to 18 months, in some cases even less than that.

There are also reports about units lasting for years and considering that people who have had negative experience are more likely to leave feedback than those who had positive experience the chances are your unit will probably last longer than that – however you still have to keep in mind that the unit breaking is not something that could be described as uncommon.

Miscellaneous

Ice

Frigidaire EFIC108 measures 15 inches deep, 14.5 inches high and 11.25 inches wide so it’s not the most compact countertop ice maker on the market.

It can hold 1.5 lbs of ice cubes at has water reservoir with capacity of 2.3 quarts. Ice maker features transparent window so you can see contents of ice basket without opening the lid (which is convenient and prevents warm air from getting inside the machine that could alter ice production quality).

Frigidaire

Frigidaire EFIC108 also has drain plug and comes with ice scoop.

Conclusions

Frigidaire EFIC108 is far from perfect but considering that it makes a lot of ice fast and isn’t all that expensive it’s a pretty good unit – that’s if you don’t run into reliability issues like some consumers do!
